Jackalope is a destination hotel you will not want to miss. A hotel and winery with two on-site restaurants, and a sexy bar for pre and/or post dinner drinks, plus an on-site spa and infinity pool. A highlight of the Mornington Peninsula, Jackalope is located in Merricks North, about an hour from Melbourne. Many make the trip just for the hotel’s two restaurants, Rare Hare and Doot Doot Doot. The latter of which is a fine-dining experience, as well as a breakfast spot for guests.

In the bathroom, darker colors, heated flooring and recessed (sensor) lighting add volumes to the atmosphere in the rooms. The large rain shower is complemented by Tom Dixon London Underground bath products. We’ve had some of the best sleeps of our lives here, the bed and pillows are truly like clouds, and the block out blinds do wonders. Some in-room highlights include; complimentary mini-bar featuring local beers and cocktails, as well as soft drinks, complementary (bottomless) popcorn and ice-cream, Chromecast, and Breakfast from Doot Doot Doot, best enjoyed on your balcony (weather permitting).

Rare Hare has a more casual, seasonal menu that never seems to disappoint. The wood fired oven is a central theme in many of the dishes. They are very accommodating of dietary requirements and can provide gluten free english muffins. Like Rare Hare, Doot Doot Doot is a seasonal menu, using lots of ingredients from the land around them and creating Australian inspired dishes with a high-end twist. Breakfast, which will be complementary, can be served in the restaurant or in the comfort of your own room.

The infinity pool, jacuzzi and decking is a popular spot for guests, overlooking the vineyard, and not to be missed in the warmer months. The spa at Jackalope completes the experience, with individual and couples massage, various face & body treatments all designed to be customized if you wish.

Seasonal activities for hotel guests only—to book, simply let the hotel know and they will take care of the rest: Art Tour, Kitchen garden tour, Wine cellar tour and cheese tasting, Vineyard walk, Morning yoga, Cookie-making class, Martini tasting. Additionally, since Jackalope is a winery, wine lovers will enjoy tastings from their very own creations. Including the opportunity to buy a few bottles (or cases) to take home with you. For those who enjoy something a bit harder, there's also Whiskey tastings sessions (Mon-Thurs only).

Pro tip: make your way to Jackalope earlier than check-in (3pm), do lunch at Rare Hare then check-in afterwards. A swim and or a few hours in the day spa, followed by either dinner at one of the two amazing restaurants or the ridiculously good room service menu, then snuggling up in bed with room service and complimentary mini-bar—simply Chromecast anything from your phone. The following morning, breakfast in-room (or at Doot Doot Doot), the OJ is freshly squeezed, and the menu morish. For stays of more than one night, either rinse and repeat, or add some of the above activities to your day, they don’t disappoint either.
